Performance, Protection and Peace of Mind are Built into Every Quicksilver Marine Engine

When you buy a Quicksilver® marine engine to repower a classic boat, you’ve made an investment in performance, protection and peace of mind.

Quicksilver engines are designed to be drop-in replacement powertrains for most classic sterndrive- and inboard-powered boats, which often don’t have the space for the engines currently offered for new boats. Quicksilver engines are also designed to work with analog (cable) controls, which helps keep the repower project easy and affordable. Yet, they can often give you an upgrade in displacement and horsepower over the original engine.

So, whether you want to get an old boat back on the water or are looking for an upgrade in performance, Quicksilver probably has what you need.

Consider the Quicksilver difference:

All-New, All-Marine

Quicksilver complete engines are all-new, not remanufactured. These are marine engines from the bottom up, fitted with U.S. Coast Guard-approved components and corrosion-resistant fasteners, and finished with a durable corrosion-resistant paint process.

Options and Upgrades

With sterndrive and inboard engine choices from 135hp to 425hp, Quicksilver offers options to power almost any classic single- or twin-engine boat.

Quicksilver sterndrive engines are available for installation in boats originally equipped with MerCruiser® Alpha® and Bravo® sterndrives and can be paired with new Quicksilver Alpha and Bravo transoms and drives. Quicksilver Horizon inboard engines are available for in-line and V-drive transmission installations in cruisers and watersports tow boats.

(To be CARB and EPA compliant these engines may be installed in boats not originally equipped with Emission Control Technologies (ECT) – generally boats sold pre-2008 in California and pre-2010 in other states.)

3-Year Warranty Coverage

Quicksilver engines come with the peace of mind of a three-year factory-backed limited warranty, so you can get back on the water with confidence.

Tested to be Tough

No aftermarket company or local engine shop can match the experience, resources, facilities or research-and-development capabilities available to Quicksilver. Millions of hours have been spent on fired-engine testing and analysis, on corrosion protection, and on the development of marine-specific alloys and treatments. The result is a collection of premium marine powertrain products infused with value, quality and integrity.

Custom-Cast Engine Blocks

Every Quicksilver complete engine starts with a new iron block cast to our specifications and designed expressly for marine duty. Thicker castings ensure quieter operation and better durability than a typical automotive block, especially in saltwater, so you can count on years of reliable service in the toughest environment.

Cylinder Heads Designed to Last

Quicksilver manufactures durable, robust cylinder heads that can stand up to the abuse and demands of years on the water. With an efficient design and superior corrosion resistance, they outperform automotive heads for marine duty.

Durable Black-X Valves

Stainless steel Black‑X valves are infused with chrome/cobalt seats that deliver the extreme durability required for marine duty – one of the most abusive and demanding environments for any engine. In 150-hour durability tests, Black-X valves offered a 42% reduction in valve wear compared to traditional stainless steel valves with hardened seats, even in the presence of ethanol fuels.

Multi-Port Fuel Injection (MPI)

The modern Multi-Port Fuel Injection (MPI) featured on most Quicksilver complete engines offers a significant performance improvement when you replace an older engine with a carburetor or early fuel injection system. You’ll enjoy easier starts, improved fuel economy and snappy throttle response. MPI also automatically adjusts for changes in temperature or elevation for terrific performance and economy in any environment.

SmartCraft Compatibility

Nearly every Quicksilver complete engine is compatible with the Mercury® SmartCraft® suite of digital technologies. With SmartCraft, you have the option of sticking with analog instruments or upgrading your boat’s helm with digital gauges, including the MercMonitor multi-color LCD screen. You can also connect to the industry-leading Mercury VesselView® engine monitoring system. VesselView provides engine data and alerts on a dedicated digital display or compatible multi-function displays from several leading brands.

SmartCraft also provides access to helpful engine controls such as Active Trim, which automatically adjusts trim for optimal performance and fuel efficiency, so you can focus more on having fun.

Engine Guardian Protection

Most Quicksilver complete engines feature the added peace of mind of a helm-mounted Audio Warning System with Engine Guardian. The Engine Guardian system protects against engine or drive damage if monitored temperatures or pressures vary from normal range. So, for example, if the cooling water intake is blocked by a plastic bag, Engine Guardian will sound an alert and protect the engine from over-heating, saving you from costly damage.
